"The Real Betty" is the 10th episode of Carmilla. It aired on September 2nd, 2014.
Logline[]
Laura starts to put the pieces together and reaches a breakthrough in her investigation of the missing girls.
Synopsis[]
Laura displays understandable confusion, caused by Natalie's sudden change in personality, something which has apparently happened to Sarah Jane. Danny believes the Alchemy Club is responsible, but Laura believes they do not have the capacity to perform such an action. Laura points out that the behavior of the two women is extremely odd, as they were both honor students focused on studies before becoming party animals.
Laura makes a comparison between Betty's behavior and that of Natalie and Sarah Jane's. She guesses that there is something else going on, but her ensuing research efforts make fairly little headway as many hours of analysis and theorizing lead her to still be working when Carmilla wakes up.
Her roommate questions why Laura is still present in the room, leading Laura to state she felt sick. Carmilla displays concern for Laura's health and offers her a mug of cocoa before departing the room, the action confusing Laura due to her roommate's previous behavior.
Laura eventually succeeds in her analysis of Betty, learning her actual name is Elizabeth Anne Spielsdorf, and that she is a student who gets high grades in addition to being her former high school's valedictorian. Before she can do anything else, LaFontaine and Perry rush into the room and order Laura to hide, and a few moments later, The Dean arrives, looking for Carmilla.
