"PTSD & Brownies" is the 29th episode of Carmilla. It aired on November 6th, 2014.
Logline[]
Laura is surprised by Perry in the wee hours of the morning with a plate of brownies and seemingly nothing to do.
Synopsis[]
Perry, in order to cope with LaFontaine's kidnapping, turned to cleaning and making brownies to remain calm. At 6 AM Perry wakes Laura and Carmilla with a plate of brownies in hand. She suggests they put the videos on a delay to prevent hostile forces from discerning their exact movements, and that they should call upon other allies, such as the police, private investigators or even mercenaries. Laura explains the police won't come unless campus security calls them and private investigators won't come near the campus due to the supernatural nature of the premises, while mercenaries are unattainable due to lack of funding and knowledge on how to acquire them.
Laura and Carmilla begin looking through the Sumerian book for more clues, while Perry keeps busy by cleaning the dorm room. While she's cleaning, Perry accidentally bumps into Carmilla which causes blood from a glass she's drinking from to spill on the book. As a result of her accidental hit, new information starts appearing in the book because of the spilled blood.
The new entry is about Lophiiformes, "the light that devours", the entry covers an ancient evil that devours five virgins every twenty years, corresponding directly to Carmilla's actions in the past and her mother's plans. Further reading reveals that once victims are 'marked', "their world narrows to celebration". The others presume that this means they focus exclusively on partying, but realizes that the creature absorbs the minds of its victims and uses that energy to lure more victims. Laura and Carmilla figure out if Ell is communicating with them via dreams their consciousnesses are still intact, revealing that they aren't dead after all.
Laura mentions how the recollections of the text keep getting creepier and someone behind them agrees. They all jump at the disturbance and turn around to see LaFontaine standing by the door. Perry hugs them, ecstatic they are back, but LaFontaine doesn't remember that they had been kidnapped at all.
