Biography[]
A Scot who lived mainly in Conisbrough, Yorkshire, Ian left for Canada the same year that the Beatles stopped touring. Since then, he has starred at every major theatre in the country, from the Stratford to the Shaw stages. He has appeared in 12 feature films including: Equus directed by Sidney Lumet), Cruel Intentions 2, That Old Feeling (with Bette Midler); among others. He has performed internationally, filming "The Murder of Harry Oakes" in the Bahamas. On set they were joined by the real Comte d Marigny, who had been accused of the murder of the famous Canadian, and who would have been hanged, had he lost the trial!
He has been a major series principal in 5 series, and the one he is probably most known for was The Road to Avonlea, where as Simon Tremayne, the rightful Duke of Aranagh, kidnapped as a teen by an evil stepmother - he became a spy for the Turks in the Ottoman Empire and fought lions in Africa. He finally turned up in Avonlea to buy the White Sands Hotel, and become the on-again off-again romantic partner and quarreller with Aunt Hetty. Ian's most recent television appearances include: Rookie Blue, Flashpoint, Saving Hope, Reign, Murdoch Mysteries - and of course, Carmilla, of which he is very proud.
